Need a weekend or evening appointment? The GP Extended Hours service is designed to provide patients with appointments outside core general practice hours for routine care and is available:
- Monday to Friday: 6.30pm – 9.30pm
- Saturdays & Sundays: 9am – 6pm
- Bank Holidays: 9am – 2pm
You can make an appointment for a:
- Blood test
- Physiotherapy assessment
To book an appointment call: 0300 123 7743. The phone line is operational from 8am to 8pm, seven days a week.
Patients registered with a GP practice in West Cheshire can access appointments at six locations – Chester, Ellesmere Port, Helsby, Tarporley, Malpas and Neston. Please note that opening times and services offered at different venues will vary.
Patients will be given an appointment at the most convenient location for them. Extended Hours appointments can be booked up to two weeks in advance.
Please note this is not a drop-in service and appointment times and availability may vary.
Patients to enter the building marked General Practice Extended Hours Service
|General Practice Extended Hours Service, Countess of Chester Health Park, Liverpool Road, Chester, CH2 1HJ||Small car park in the grounds of the Extended Hours building. The barrier lifts as vehicles approach.||Enter main entrance of Countess of Chester Health Park. Take first left at roundabout, then immediate right and right again into car park.

Enter the hospital through main doors and walk-up corridor to Outpatients reception

|Helsby||Helsby Health Centre, Lower Robin Hood Lane, Helsby, WA6 0BW||Parking available in Health Centre car park.||Off Chester Road, down Lower Robin Hood Lane and it is located just past the library.

|Tarporley||Tarporley War Memorial Hospital, Park Road, Tarporley, CW6 0AP||Parking available in Hospital car park.||On Tarporley High Street, take the turning opposite the Post Office into Park Road. Patients need to ring the doorbell when they arrive

Phlebotomy appointments are available in extended hours as follows, subject to availability:
- 1829 building: 6:30pm – 9:00pm Tuesdays, Wednesday, Thursdays and 9:00am – 11:30am Sundays.
- Ellesmere Port Hospital: 6:30pm – 9:00pm Tuesdays, Wednesdays, Thursdays and 9:00am – 11:30am Sundays.
- Neston Surgery: 6:30pm – 9:00pm Thursdays.
- Laurel Bank Surgery, Malpas: 6:30pm – 8:00pm Mondays.
When the Practice is closed you can easily dial 111 and speak to a Triage Nurse.
NHS 111 is a fast and easy way to get the right help, whatever the time.
You should use the NHS 111 service if you urgently need medical help or advice but it’s not a life-threatening situation. They will ask you questions to assess your symptoms, then give you the healthcare advice you need or direct you straight away to the local service that can help you best.
You may be given telephone advice, invited to attend one of the treatment centres operated by the service, or (if you are not well enough to attend a centre) you may be given a home visit.

GP Out Of Hours Service
If you require urgent medical advice when the surgery is closed (overnight, at weekends or during Bank Holidays) you can get advice from, or a consultation with, the Western Cheshire Out of Hours Service. To access this services please dial 111.
